Joshua Schachter Raising Capital for New Startup Good news for the perl community: Joshua Schachter of del.icio.us fame is organizing a new company. Having cut his teeth in NYC finance tech, Mr. Schachter built del.icio.us in perl. I saw him speak at a Ycombinator startup school and this man is the quintessential Wall Street engineer: practical, tough, direct, and funny as hell. It is obviously too soon to tell whether he will use perl to build parts of his new venture, but he probably won't be using anything like Yahoo's php+c++ framework. August 25, 2006
Leaving Los Boingos Yesterday was my last day on the job at Boingo Wireless. I am now free to put all of my time into my education and into building out my ideas. Wish me luck! What to do, what to do. I think I will start by delving into Ruby on Rails and its Java/Groovy cousin Grails. Squirrel RDF's RDB Mapper also has caught my eye (thanks to a mention from Danny). New Job Wednesday was my last day at the Hollywood Stock Exchange. Overall, it was a positive experience, but I had to move on. How could I resist working on perl applications at a startup... again? Tomorrow, I will be starting my first day at Boingo Wireless. June 7, 2004
